How do I qualify for Elderly/Disabled Housing?

A family whose head or spouse is at least sixty-two (62) years of age or older or who is disabled or handicapped is classified as ELDERLY.

A disabled household comprises one or more persons, at least one of whom is an adult (18 years of age or older or emancipated) with a disability.

A disability can be a mental or physical impairment likely to continue indefinitely. Being diagnosed as HIV positive or having a substance abuse problem can qualify a person for this classification.

The disability results in substantial functional limitations such as eating, dressing, working, bathing, grooming, household management, mobility, and self-direction.

A Near – Elderly Household is a household where the head of household or spouse is at least 55 years of age but below the age of 62.
